Helping My Body Heal Cervical Dysplasia LSIL

Let down yet again by the limitations of conventional medicine….

For 3 yrs now I’ve had cervical screenings (pap smears) showing abnormal cells. HPV causing low grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) also know as mild cervical dysplasia. While this thankfully is not cervical cancer, there is a chance it may go on to do so.

At my latest appointment, I had a conversation with my specialist :

Me : If most women naturally resolve this issue within 12mths, why would my body not do that over the past 3yrs?

Specialist : Its down to your immune system not being able to clear the abnormal cells.

Me : What factors would contribute to my immune system not doing that?

Specialist : Usually smoking, drinking & stress.

Me : Well I don’t smoke & I rarely drink. But I do know the last 8yrs have been very stressful for me with perimenopause, not sleeping & stress from other sources.

Specialist : (nods affirmatively) Yes stress will lower your immune system.

Me : (Although this only confirmed what I already knew, I wondered why I had to ask rather than be given this information)

The reason I feel let down is that over the past 3yrs I’ve had this issue, not one doctor has discussed stress & lifestyle factors with me. No questions on my stress level, emotional state, sleep or diet.

No advice had been given at all on how to be proactive in healing myself.

No, the conventional approach is let’s just retest every 12 mths & once it gets into the high risk category we’ll do surgery.

Well, needless to say, I wasn’t happy with this approach!

I already knew that our emotional state & lifestyle play such a big role in our health, natural medicine has always been my first preference.

Conventional medicine is fantastic for trauma care & acute issues and I’m grateful to have it. But I strongly believe healthcare should be a blend of both convention & natural medicine.

I trust my body & know it can heal, so over the past 3 mths I had made changes in my life to improve things.

I did my own research into this condition. I found evidence based research on methods & supplements that show positive outcomes. I looked into stress reduction & improving sleep quality, I tweaked my diet by adding healing foods specific for this issue & I made big changes in my life to reduce stress.

And the other day at the specialist appointment, the outcome was that things are looking good.

I just need to wait for the test results to come back to hopefully confirm that.

Did I just heal myself naturally & avoid moving into a high risk category & surgery???

I sure hope so.
